It's no secret that my cats hate just about all forms of human contact, especially Haggis. Haggis has made an exception to this rule thanks to Chewy.com sending some Sojos NaturalCat Wild-Caught Salmon Freeze-Dried Cat Treats for him to review. Sherbert tolerates human contact, and had to come sniffing around and check out what all the fuss was about.
If you are looking for a one ingredient cat treat, Sojos NaturalCat Wild-Caught Salmon Freeze-Dried Cat Treats contain just one ingredient, freeze dried salmon, and it smells like salmon. The treats are in different sized chunks, and if there is one that is on the bigger side it can be easily broken into something smaller.
Haggis was busily trying to shove his head into the treat bag, so I took advantage of his distraction and was petting him and scratching him behind the ears. He managed to dig out a treat and while he was chewing I continued petting him. When he was done eating, he walked off, sat down and just looked at me, waiting for me to toss a treat at him. Good feelings gone, done with human contact. We had a bit of a stand off before I dropped a treat close to me, and when he came over to eat it, I was back at it petting him. We have a bit of an understanding now. He wants treats, I want to pet him.
Sherbert is a little more tolerable of human contact. We are allowed to pet him for a limited amount of time, but when he's done, he's done. He has never been really big into treats, but he will get up and walk over to wherever I toss the treat, as long as it is not too far away from him. The trick is to keep Haggis occupied because Sherbert moves so slow (lazy cat) and Haggis will race over and gobble it up. I have been able to get Sherbert to sit in my lap for a few minutes after he is done eating a couple treat bits, so there is that improvement.
