Oreo Chocolate Mousse Dessert

A long time ago we saw an Oreo Mousse dessert kit at a local store that made our mouths water, after trying it once we were hooked. Bad problem was when we went out to buy it again we couldn't find it anywhere. I hate when that happens, don't you?  Well knowing the basic idea of what was in it, we decided to make our own version of it. Takes a little time so you want to make sure you start fixing it before supper or when you want it, but it's so worth it. Layers of Oreo cookies, chocolate mousse and cool whip, just makes my mouth water thinking about it. Other than the time it takes for the mousse to set up, it's a very easy dessert to fix. If you don't like chocolate mousse you can always substitute chocolate pudding instead or any other flavor. The possibilities are endless really to make this dessert something you will love. Here's how we made ours and then you can run with it and make it your own. This recipe makes 3-4 servings




Ingredients:

package of chocolate mousse
Oreo cookies
container of Cool whip
dessert glasses



Mix the chocolate mousse as directed on package; and let it chill in refrigerator for 2 hours or you can set it in freezer for 30-45 minutes or until set. Take 10 Oreo's and crush them into tiny pieces. You can use a food processor or place them in a sandwich bag and crush them with hand. Once mousse is set and ready to eat, start layering your dessert glasses with ingredients. The thickness of layers all depends on what you prefer. Bottom layer crushed Oreos, next layer cool whip and then a layer of chocolate mousse; and repeat until glasses are full. Top it off with crushed Oreos, whole Oreos or chocolate syrup.
