You know that feeling or the moment you're in the middle of cooking tacos and realize that you're completely out of your taco seasoning? Well I know this moment well and have done this many times with taco seasoning and lettuce. Although I can't just make my own lettuce on the spot, I have come up with my own taco seasoning using just a few spices that I always keep on hand. It's very easy to throw together and can be tweaked as needed for your liking.

Ingredients:

1 tbsp of Chili powder
1/4 tsp of garlic powder
1/4 tsp of onion powder
1/4 tsp of dried oregano
1/2 tsp of paprika
1 1/2 tsp of ground cumin
1 tsp of sea salt
1 tsp of black pepper
1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper

In a small bowl or container mix all spices until well blended. Increase each of all ingredients if using more than a pound of ground beef, or if you like it spicier. Like I said this recipe can be tweaked to meet your needs and tastings. Make a larger batch and store in a air tight container instead of buying taco mix packages at the store. I have found that about 2 tbsps equal a normal size of taco seasoning mix package.
