Did you make a New Year's Resolution for 2014?  I was busy fighting off a pretty nasty bug, so I've had a little bit of time to think about IF I should even make a belated one.  How many times have I made a resolution and have turned around and not followed through after a very short period of time....more times than I can remember.  I've run through the usual gambit of resolutions:  loose weight, get organized, exercise more.  What do they all have in common?  They are all very vague.  I failed at each and every one of them.  While in my cold medicine induced haze I thought of a resolution I just might be able to maintain this year and for many years to come.

This year I am resolving to take care of the little things while they are still little. I have a tendency to be a bit of a delay fish and put off little things until later. I'll pay a bill, and instead of filing it away, I'll put it on top of the file box. Several bills later, I have a huge pile of papers that take a long time to sort and put away. I have a large kitchen counter. Convenient place to put things when I'm dashing out the door. Next thing I know, it's a looming junk pile that makes me wonder how I'm ever going to clean it off again. Coupons, yeah, I have huge stack with several weeks worth of inserts sitting next to me as I type (though I did manage to file away the most current week right away). I even switch to a whole insert system months ago, all I have to do is drop them into a file and clip the ones I want!  All these huge projects, that started out so small.
I've only been at if for a couple days (finally fought off the nasty little bug), and I'm noticing a difference around my house.  My current junk piles are shrinking, and I don't have an feeling of being overwhelmed.

It's a small resolution, but I believe it will make a huge impact on my life.

Did you make a resolution for the New Year?  What was it?  Are you still sticking to it?
