Copy Cat Famous Anthony's BBQ

Recreating the Famous Anthony's BBQ is fairly easy and great for us busy moms. Your crock-pot can become your best friend when time is a issue. Although it takes some time to cook it's simple to throw together. I like to start mine early in the morning and leave it cooking while I'm either gone or busy with the kids. This is my recipe for the delicious BBQ sandwich.

You will need...

1  bone-in pork shoulder roast
1 tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon of black pepper
1 1/2 cups of apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons of hot sauce
2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper flakes


From freezer take out pork roast and place it in the crock pot or slow cooker and season with salt and pepper. Pour the 1 1/2 cup of vinegar around the roast. Cover with lid and cook on Low heat for 12 hours. Your pork should pull apart into strands once it's done. Once the roast is easily pulled, pull the roast out and place on a pan and pull out any and all bones. Pour out 2 cups of the liquid that is inside the crock pot, and dump the rest down the sink. Take 2 forks and shred your roast into strands and place it back into the crock pot. Stir the brown sugar, hot sauce, cayenne pepper and pepper flakes. Mix all ingredients together thoroughly. Cover and keep on low until your ready to serve. You can serve your BBQ on buns or on a plate with a side of coleslaw and a roll.

Top your BBQ with your coleslaw and a few drops of hot sauce for more heated effect.

Tip:  A 5 pound roast will make approximately 10 sandwiches
