Holiday Recipe ~ Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar Bread Dip

Around my house, it does not matter if I have a large group or a small group  for a feast, I have to serve appetizers.  My whole family loves it when I buy a loaf of french bread and break out with the dipping dishes.  It means I'm also busting out the olive oil and some balsamic vinegar.  For something so simple, it tastes so yummy.  I like having individual dipping bowls for everyone so that each person can customize their dip, and of course to help prevent cooties from spreading.  I'm all for sharing the love during the holidays, but I draw the line at colds and flues.


French bread
Light olive oil
Balsamic Vinegar
Course ground pepper


Cut bread into large bite sized cubes.  1/2 to 1 inch seems to work for us.  In a small dipping bowl pour in balsamic vinegar.  I like to pour in just enough to cover the bottom of the dipping bowl.  In center of bowl pour in olive oil.  I always prefer a larger portion of oil than balsamic vinegar.  Top with some coarse ground pepper and dip bread and enjoy.  I really like the tang of the vinegar so I always pour vinegar first.  If trying this for the first time, I suggest that you pour in olive oil first and add vinegar a little at a time till you find what works for you.
