My oldest daughter is turning into an adult.  It's been a roller coaster ride to say the least, but it's been a fun one.  As she bolted out the door today for her college classes, she stopped long enough to give me a quick headbutt.  It's not what you think.  Several years ago, she decided getting big squishy hugs and an "I Love You!", from mom in public was not cool any more.  Not that I really blame her, but it was heartbreaking as a mother that she no longer wanted me to show affection to her in public.

Shortly after being told she was too old for hugs, Finding Nemo came out.  My daughter hit upon a brilliant idea.  She decided that headbutting was a totally cool way to say all the words in public, without saying any words.  It was an instant hit.  Her friends thought it was cool that she got away with headbutting her mom, and I got to tell her I loved her every morning as I dropped her off at school, or as she hopped out of the car to hang out with friends.  Now its morphed into her coming over to me and giving me a quick headbutt as she bolts out the door telling me what time she'll be home.  It's just a tiny gesture, but it means the world to me.

Excuse me while I go through a box of tissues now...
