It never fails...some store will have a great sale on avocadoes, I buy up a storm, and then I can never eat them up fast enough before they go bad.  My solution?  Some guacamole of course!  I did not have any chips, but I did have a bunch of left over corn tortillas from another recipe, so I got busy and baked up my own chips, and whipped out some yummy guacamole that even the avocado hater of the family enjoyed.

5 small ripe avocadoes chopped
8 fresh basil leaves chopped
1/4 cup diced red onion
3 tablespoon lime juice
1 small can chopped green chili
tabasco sauce to taste
pepper to taste
salt to taste
corn tortillas

Pre-heat oven to 350.  place acovado, basil, onion, lime juice, chili in bowl and mix well.  I did not smash up the avocado because I prefer a chuncky guacamole, but you can if you prefer a smoother and creamier testure.  Add tobasco sauce, salt and peper to taste and mis again.  Cover and place in fridge to let flavors blend.  While waiting for guacamole, break out with the corn tortilla's.  Cut corn tortilla's into 6 or 8 wedges and arrange on cookie sheet without overlapping.  Place in oven for 6-8 minutes, then carefully flip each chip and bake for another 6-8 minutes.  Watch you chips the second half of the baking process and remove just as they are starting to turn a golden brown.  Let cool completely before devoring.  The chips have a hard crunchy that I really like and can hold up to a thick dip.  I love the flavor of the basil and the lime in this, plus it's a great way for me to use up some of the basil leaves fromt he plant my mom gave me.
